Torre Sears a las 9am, marcha a las 12pm hacia el Banco de Reserva Federal, asamblea a las 3pm, acción de homenaje con velas en memoria de Troy Davis a las 9pm en Millennium Park.

Inicio 09/23/2011 @ 9 am, y termina cuando el gobierno pone las cosas bien.

Todo aquel que ha sentido engañado por nuestro gobierno una y otra vez la elección de dinero por los derechos humanos están invitados a mostrar su apoyo en la partida del centro. Participar en una protesta pacífica. Todos los puntos de vista, todas las personas, de todos los ámbitos de la vida, por favor venga y comparta sus opiniones acerca de cómo este país puede cambiar para mejor.

Sólo tenemos un objetivo - para unir y para demostrar que nuestro gobierno no nos quedaremos por su corrupción y la codicia. Cada uno tiene sus razones. Ahora es el momento para compartir.

SUMINISTROS

Durante el día:

Camiseta, abrigo, paraguas, ponchos. Vea el canal del tiempo, estar preparados. Probablemente va a llover. Use varias capas y llevar una muda de ropa.

From occupywallstreet.org, the requirements, the people’s demands, our requirements for our society are breaking the chains that shackle us. We have only one demand: an ultimatum for a better life.

·      “On September 21st, 2011, Troy Davis, an innocent man, was murdered by the state of Georgia. Troy Davis was one of the 99 percent. Ending capital punishment is our one demand.

·      On September 21st, 2011, the richest 400 Americans owned more wealth than half of the country’s population. Ending wealth inequality is our one demand.

·      On September 21st, 2011, four of our [NYC] members were arrested on baseless charges. Ending police intimidation is our one demand.

Looks like rain is in the forecast this weekend. Dress accordingly. Thought I would post a quick checklist of things to bring with you.

Waterproof clothes

Extra food. Things like granola bars and energy food is a good idea, we might be there awhile.

Extra batteries or stand alone chargers. Let’s keep the message rolling while we are there.

Signs. Be creative let YOUR voice be heard.

Candle for overnight vigil for Troy Davis.

These are just off the top of my head, post in the comments any suggestions. See you all there!

Attention concerned citizens. America is in decline, slowly strangled by the greed of Wall St and corporate bailouts. Our democracy has been hijacked by special interests and big business. Our politicians no longer work for the people. It is time for a change. Today we invite you to downtown Chicago to stand strong with our brothers and sisters in New York. Join us on the steps of historic Sears/Willis tower at 9am Friday, September 23^rd for a march toward the Federal Reserve building in Chicago’s financial district. Let your voice be heard. United, we will no longer idly sit by while the wealthiest 1% of America profits off our backs and buys our politicians wholesale. Let them know we want campaign finance reform and that corporations being considered people will no longer be accepted. Will you stand with the 99% and be heard? So, what’s this all about?

According to Wikipedia, “Occupy Wall Street, or #occupywallstreet, is an ongoing nonviolent demonstration opposing what participants view as negative corporate influence over U.S. politics and a lack of legal repurcussions over the global financial crisis.”

Simply put, the protests are over how there was, and still is, no accountability for the actions of Wall Street, the banks, and the various corporations. This includes the corporate influence on U.S. Politics. Inspired by the recent Egyptian revolution, protesters set up camp in Zuccotti Park, which was renamed Liberty Park during the protests.

Who put this altogether?

The protest was initially put together by Adbusters, an anti-consumer magazine based in Vancouver, Canada. On 13 July 2011, Adbusters posted on their website a call for 20,000 people to ascend on Wall Street with a demand that “Barack Obama ordain a Presidential Commission tasked with ending the influence money has over our representatives in Washington”

AnonOps, an Anonymous-related blog tweeted its endorsement of the protest on 10 August 2011 while releasing a video on 23 August 2011.

Who’s the leader?

While there is no formal and official leader, but multiple volunteers are currently organizing resources and outreach.

Why is there so little coverage in the media?

Although coverage is gaining momentum, it’s still receiving very little attention. In fact, protests are taking place around the world either now or in the future, and New York’s receiving the majority of the attention. (See Below)

Quoting directly from Michael Moore’s 20 September appearance on The Rachel Maddow Show:

“A thousand people were arrested a couple weeks ago on the Tar Sands environmental issue,” Moore said to Maddow. “Hardly any coverage of this.”

“Can you imagine if a thousand tea partiers had been arrested in front of the White House? It would be the top of every news story. People are down on Wall Street right now holding a sit in and a camp in down there, virtually no news about this protest. This goes on with liberals and the left all the time, and it gets ignored. Fortunately, there are shows like yours and others who aren’t ignoring it, but it doesn’t mean that it isn’t happening and it will continue to happen.”

How many people are currently in Liberty Park?

It’s hard to find a consistant number. Some sources are reporting 1000 while others report less than 100.

According to the livestream, though, there is around 200 to 300 people at Liberty Park at time of writing.

Where’s the best place that I can find coverage?

The best place to find coverage is the official website (occupywallst.org), twitter, IRC chat room, and livestream feed. Now and then, New York Daily News streams, so keep an eye on IRC.

How many people have been arrested so far?

According to Wikipedia, twelve people have been arrested.

Four protesters were arrested for wearing masks.

One protester was arrested for crossing a police barricade and resisting arrest.

Two protesters were arrested for entering a building belonging to Bank of America.

One protester was arrested for disorderly conduct.

Two protesters were arrested for drawing on a sidewalk with chalk.

Two protesters were arrested for using a tarp to try and protect digital equipment from rain.

What’s the deal with the “I am/We are the 99%”?

This can provide a better explanation.

Okay, you sold me. I wanna get involved, but I can’t get down to NYC/Liberty Park.

The best thing you can do is simply spread the word. Tell your friends, family, co-workers, that guy who sells hot dogs down the street, your dog, your jerk of a neighbor, your professor, your companion cube, your tumblr crushes, and everyone and anyone that’s willing to listen. This is the most important thing to do right now.

Can’t make it to Wall Street? Well, maybe if I had money for a plane ticket to Wall Street, I wouldn’t be protesting in the first place eh?

Everyone who has feel cheated by our government again and again choosing money over human rights is invited to show your support by heading downtown. Participate in a peaceful protest.
